Get the app

Install Forge on your phone or computer from your browser, turn on notifications, and see your bookings in other calendar apps.

On this page

Forge is a web app that you can install. Your browser adds it to your phone's Home Screen or your computer's apps, and from then on it opens in its own window like any other app. There is nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play.

The install steps below are also in Forge, under Settings → Get the app.

Install Forge on your phone

Open Settings → Get the app on your computer and scan the code there with your phone's camera. It opens forge.page/app. You can also type that address into your phone's browser. Sign in, then add Forge to your Home Screen.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open forge.page/app in Safari.
  2. Tap Share. If you can't see it, open the page menu first: it is in there.
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen. If you see Open as Web App, make sure it is on.
  4. Tap Add.

Android

  1. Open forge.page/app in Chrome.
  2. Open the menu (⋮).
  3. Choose the install option, then Install. Depending on your version of Chrome it is called Install app, Add to Home screen or Install and create shortcut.

Install Forge on your computer

  1. Open Forge in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Select the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar.
  3. Choose Install.

If there is no icon, open Chrome's menu (⋮) and choose Cast, save and share, then Install page as app. In Safari on a Mac with macOS Sonoma or later, choose File, then Add to Dock.

These are your browser's own controls, not Forge's, so their names and places vary between browsers and versions.

The Install Forge button

When your browser offers to install Forge, Settings → Get the app shows an Install Forge button under On this device. Choosing it opens your browser's own install prompt.

The button only appears when your browser makes that offer. Chrome and Edge make it once you have used Forge for a little while. Safari and Firefox do not make it at all, so use the steps above instead.

If you are already using the installed app, the page says so and offers nothing to install.

What the installed app is

It is the same Forge, in its own window, and like the website it needs an internet connection to open. On a small screen the layout adapts:

  • The sidebar becomes a menu you open from the top bar.
  • The calendar offers Day, Week and Agenda views.

Notifications on this device

Forge can ping your device when someone books, cancels or reschedules.

  1. Open Settings → Notifications.
  2. Find Browser notifications and choose Enable on this device.
  3. Allow notifications when your browser asks.

Each device is switched on separately. To stop them, choose Turn off on this device.

On an iPhone or iPad, add Forge to your Home Screen first and open it from there. iOS only allows notifications from a web app on the Home Screen, and it needs iOS 16.4 or later.

More in Notifications.

See your bookings in another calendar app

You can subscribe to your Forge bookings from Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or anything else that reads a calendar feed.

  1. Open Settings → Calendars and scroll to Subscribe from another calendar app.
  2. Choose Create subscribe link.
  3. Copy the link straight away. Forge shows it once and keeps only a fingerprint of it.
  4. Open the Subscribe link on your device, or paste the https version where an app asks for a URL.

Good to know:

  • The feed is read-only. Nothing you change in the other app comes back to Forge.
  • It shows your Forge bookings and anything you have drawn on your Forge calendar, from 30 days back to 12 months ahead.
  • Treat the link like a password. Anyone who has it can see when you are busy and who you are meeting. It never carries an email address, a phone number, a joining link or your notes.
  • Reset link replaces it. The old link stops working at once, and you will need to add the new one to each device again.
  • Turn it off stops the feed.

This is separate from connecting a calendar, which lets Forge read your busy times and write bookings. See Connecting your calendars.
