AI drafts

Switch on the drafts you want, then read, edit and send them. Nothing goes out until you do.

On this page

An AI draft is an email Forge has written for you and not sent. You read it, change what you like, and send it yourself. This page covers switching drafts on and working through them. For the rules behind them, see What Forge's AI does, and what it never sees.

Switch drafts on

Every kind of draft starts switched off.

  1. Open Settings → AI assistant.
  2. Under What it may draft, switch on the kinds you want.
  3. Choose Save changes.
KindWhat Forge draftsWhen
Lead repliesA reply to a new enquiry, with a few times you are freeThe moment an enquiry arrives through your enquiry form
ProposalsA proposal's intro, scope and pricingWhen you choose Draft it for me in a proposal
Invoice chasesThe wording of an overdue reminderWhen an invoice goes overdue, and for later reminders
Session recapsA follow-up after a sessionAbout a day after the session ends

Two things to know before you switch them on:

  • Invoice chases change how reminders work. With it off, Forge sends overdue reminders for you. With it on, each reminder is drafted for you instead, and while a draft is waiting nothing else is sent for that invoice. If Forge can't write a draft, for example because the day's AI allowance is used up, the first reminder goes out in Forge's standard wording.
  • Session recaps are drafted as part of the follow-up email. They only appear if Follow-up email is also on in Settings → Notifications.

Find your drafts

Drafts appear where the work is:

  • on the invoice, the booking or the lead they are about;
  • on the calendar, where an overdue invoice offers Send chase;
  • all together on the AI drafts page. Press ⌘K and choose AI drafts.

The AI drafts page lists what is waiting, oldest first, each marked Chase, Recap or Reply. Choose Review to open one.

Review and send

A draft shows who it is To, its Subject and the Message.

  1. Read it.
  2. Edit the message if you want to. The subject can't be changed.
  3. Choose Send. Or choose Discard.

Chase drafts carry a tone, such as Gentle or Firm. Forge picks it from that client's payment history: gentler for someone who has always paid on time, firmer for someone who has paid late before. Lead replies are always warm.

What sending does

  • The email goes to the client as you edited it.
  • A lead's status becomes Replied, and the reply is noted on the lead.
  • For a chase, the invoice moves on to its next reminder step.
  • Forge keeps the version you sent as an example of how you write, to shape later drafts.

What discarding does

Nothing is sent. Forge will not write another draft for that item, and for a chase, it stops drafting reminders for that invoice altogether.

If you discard three drafts of the same kind in a row, Forge takes the hint and stops writing that kind for seven days. During that week it does not send the standard reminder or follow-up in its place either.

Drafts that go out of date

A draft you have not sent stays until you deal with it. There is no time limit.

Forge removes a draft that no longer makes sense: a chase when the invoice is paid or voided, and a recap when the session is marked a no-show.

Proposal drafts

Draft it for me fills in the proposal you are editing. It is built from the enquiry and your own event types and prices. Treat every line, including any suggested amounts, as a starting point. Nothing is sent until you send the proposal.

Limits

  • Drafts use your daily AI allowance. See the allowance.
  • You can send up to 20 drafts a day.
