Custom domains

Serve your booking page on your own domain, such as book.yourstudio.com, and what to set at your DNS provider.

On this page

A custom domain puts your booking page at an address of your own, such as book.yourstudio.com, instead of forge.page/your-link.

Custom domains are part of the paid plans. You need a paid plan to add one, and the free trial does not include it.

Before you start

  • You need a domain you already own, and access to wherever its DNS is managed. That is usually the company you bought it from.
  • It has to be a subdomain, such as book.yourstudio.com. A root domain such as yourstudio.com can't be pointed at Forge, and it is usually your website anyway.
  • You can have one custom domain per account.

Add your domain

  1. Open Settings → Custom domain.
  2. Type the domain under Your domain and choose Add domain.
  3. Forge shows two DNS records. Create both at your DNS provider.
  4. Wait. Forge checks every 30 minutes and switches the domain on automatically. Choose Check status to look sooner.

The two DNS records

Both are CNAME records. Every record has a name and a value. Some providers call them Host and Data, or Name and Points to. Copy both from the page.

  • The first sends visitors on your domain to your booking page.
  • The second lets us prove you own the domain and issue its security certificate. It belongs to this domain only.

New DNS records can take a few minutes to show up, and sometimes longer.

Statuses

  • Pending DNS: Forge can't see the records yet.
  • Live: verified, with a certificate that renews automatically.
  • Needs attention: the certificate check has lapsed. Check that both records still point at Forge.

We do not email you when the domain goes live, so come back and check.

What is served on your domain

  • The domain itself shows your public page with your event types.
  • Each event type has its own address under it, such as book.yourstudio.com/discovery-call.
  • Your enquiry form and the client portal sign-in are there too.

Your forge.page link keeps working alongside it.

Good to know:

  • Links inside emails, such as cancel and reschedule, use forge.page.
  • Team booking pages are not served on a custom domain.
  • Forms you embed on your website load from forge.page.

Remove your domain

Choose Remove domain. Your booking page goes back to its forge.page address. Anyone holding a link on the old domain will not be able to book through it, so share the new one.

To change domains, remove the current one first, then add the new one.

Sending email from your own domain

Separately, Send from your own domain changes the address client emails come from. It changes the sender, not the link.

It is not switched on for everyone yet. If you do not see it under Settings → Custom domain, it is not available on your account. Until it is set up and verified, client emails go out from forge.page with your name on them.
