# Event types and booking links

> Create the things people can book, set their rules and price, share the link, and manage the bookings that come in.

An event type is one thing people can book: how long it runs, where you meet, what you ask, and what it costs. Each one has its own link.

## Create an event type

1. Open **Event types** and choose **New event type**.
2. Pick a template, or **Start from scratch**. Templates fill in a title, description, duration and a few lines of what to expect. You can change all of it.
3. Work through the sections below.
4. Choose **Create event type**.

The Free plan has one active event type. Paid plans lift that limit. If you move down to Free, extra event types are paused, not deleted.

## The sections of the editor

### Status

**Active** event types take bookings and show on your booking page. **Paused** ones are hidden from your page, and existing bookings still work.

### Basics

- **Title**, such as "Discovery call".
- **URL slug**, the last part of the link. Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.
- **Description**.

### What to expect

Up to three short lines shown on the booking page, and **What should they bring?**, which shows on the client's portal before the session.

### Timing

- **Duration**: from 5 minutes to 12 hours.
- **Slot interval**: offer start times every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes or every hour.
- **Group size**: leave at **1 — just us** for a one-to-one, or raise it to let several people book the same slot, up to 50.
- **Maximum advance**: how far ahead people can book, from 1 week to 6 months.
- **Let bookers add guests**: you set the maximum, up to 10. Guests are emailed the invite. Only the person who booked can move or cancel it.

### Scheduling rules

- **Buffer before** and **Buffer after** keep space around the meeting.
- **Minimum notice** stops last-minute bookings: from none up to 2 days.
- **Daily cap** limits bookings of this type per day. Once a day fills to the cap, the whole day comes off the menu.

### Availability

Pick the **Schedule** this event type follows. See [Availability](https://docs.forge.page/availability).

### Location

**How does the meeting happen?**

- **Google Meet (auto-generated)**, when a Google calendar is connected.
- **Microsoft Teams (auto-generated)**, when a Microsoft calendar is connected. Teams links need a work or school account.
- **Phone call**
- **In person**
- **Custom (Zoom, etc.)**, with your own joining details.

### Booking questions

Name and email are always asked. Add up to 25 of your own questions: **Short text**, **Long text**, **Dropdown (pick one)**, **Checkboxes (pick several)**, **Email** or **Phone**. Mark any as **Required**.

A question can be shown only when an earlier dropdown has a certain answer. Tick **Only show this based on an earlier answer**.

### Payment

Taking payment at booking is part of the paid plans, and needs Stripe connected in **Settings → Payments**.

- **Free**
- **Paid — full price**
- **Paid — deposit**, as a percentage of the price or a fixed amount.

Prices can be in GBP, USD or EUR. See [Invoices and deposits](https://docs.forge.page/invoices) for how refunds work.

### Agreement

Attach a contract template and bookers sign it right after their details. This section appears once you have a template. See [Contracts](https://docs.forge.page/contracts).

## Your links

- Your page, with every active event type: forge.page/your-link
- One event type: forge.page/your-link/its-slug

To copy an event type's link, open its row menu in **Event types** and choose **Copy link**. **Preview** opens the page as a booker sees it.

To put a booking page on your own website, open **Forms**, find the event type, and choose **Embed and share**. See [Forms](https://docs.forge.page/forms).

## What the booker sees

1. **Time.** They pick a day and a time. Times are shown in their own timezone and their own 12-hour or 24-hour style.
2. **Details.** Their name, email, your questions, and any guests.
3. **Contract**, if you attached an agreement. They type their full name to sign.
4. **Payment**, if the event type is paid.

Then a confirmation page, **You're in.**, with **Add to calendar** (Google, Apple, Outlook or an .ics file), **Reschedule** and **Cancel booking**. They get the same by email.

A booker who starts a paid booking and does not finish paying holds the slot for a little over half an hour. After that it is released.

## Manage your bookings

**Bookings** lists what is **Upcoming** and what is **Past**. Open one to see the booker's details, their answers, the payment and any signed agreement.

Before the session you can:

- **Reschedule** it. The client is told.
- **Cancel booking**, with a reason that is shared with the attendee.
- Add **Internal notes**, which only you see.

After the session:

- Forge marks a session complete an hour after it ends.
- If they did not turn up, choose **Mark no-show** before then.

### Add a booking yourself

Choose **New booking** in **Bookings**, or create one from the calendar. The client gets a confirmation email with cancel and reschedule links. No payment is taken and no agreement is signed.

## Delete an event type

Open the event type and choose **Delete event type**, then **Yes, delete**. To stop taking bookings without deleting it, pause it.
