# Clients

> Your client records, the companies they belong to, and the private portal each client gets.

**Clients**, under **Studio**, holds everyone you work with. Each client's record gathers their bookings, invoices, packages and signed agreements.

## How clients are created

- **From a booking.** Everyone who books you becomes a client automatically.
- **By you.** Choose **New client** and fill in their name and email. Phone is optional.
- **From a lead.** Convert a lead, or have them accept a proposal. See [Leads](https://docs.forge.page/leads).
- **From a file.** **More ways to add → Import from CSV**, or **Move in from another tool**. See [Moving in from another tool](https://docs.forge.page/moving-in).

There is one client per email address. If the same person books twice, both bookings land on the one record.

## A client's record

Open a client to see:

- their details: email, phone and company;
- **Bookings** and **Invoices** with you;
- **Packages** of sessions you have sold them;
- **Contracts**, once something is signed;
- a retainer badge, if you bill them monthly;
- **Book a time**, to book them in yourself.

The **Updates** tab is for your own notes about them. **Activity** shows what has happened, and **Files** holds attachments.

Clients can't be deleted from the board.

## Companies

**Companies** records the organisation a lead or a client belongs to. A company's page adds up what its people are worth to you: what you have billed, what has been paid, bookings and proposals.

Create a company from a name. Deleting one leaves its clients and leads in place and unlinks them.

## The client portal

Every client has a private portal page. It is their own view of the work between you.

What a client sees there:

- their next session, with **Reschedule** and **Add to calendar**;
- upcoming and past sessions;
- their invoices, with **Pay now** where card payment is available;
- signed documents;
- a way to book another session;
- **Messages**, to chat with you. See [Messages](https://docs.forge.page/messages).

Times in the portal are shown in your timezone.

### Share the portal

Open the client and find **Client portal**.

- **Portal link** copies the link.
- **Send portal link** emails it to the client.

There is no password. Anyone with the link can open it, so share it the way you would a booking link.

### Signing in without the link

A client who has lost their link can ask for a new one at forge.page/your-link/portal. They enter their email and we send a sign-in link that works for 15 minutes. For privacy, the page gives the same answer whether or not that address has a portal.
