# Your calendar

> Views, creating and moving events, booking a client yourself, sharing times to book, and what you can change from Forge.

**Calendar** is the first screen in Forge. It shows your bookings beside the events from the calendars you have connected, along with the dates that matter to your work.

## Views

Switch view from the top bar, or press a key:

- **Day** (<kbd>D</kbd>)
- **Week** (<kbd>W</kbd>). It opens on Monday to Friday. Use the stepper in the top bar to show 5, 6 or 7 days.
- **Month** (<kbd>M</kbd>)
- **Agenda** (<kbd>A</kbd>), a list of the next 14 days.

**Today** jumps back to now (<kbd>T</kbd>), and the arrows move a page at a time. On a phone you get Day, Week and Agenda.

## What you see on it

- **Bookings** people have made with you.
- **Events** from your connected Google, Microsoft and CalDAV calendars.
- **Dates from your work**: invoice due dates, proposal deadlines, lead follow-ups, poll deadlines, retainer billing days and instalments.

The **Display** menu chooses which of those work dates show: **Bookings**, **Work**, **Money** and **Sales**. It is remembered in the browser you set it in.

To hide a whole calendar, use the eye beside it in the **Calendars** list in the sidebar.

## Create an event

1. Choose **New event** in the top bar, press <kbd>N</kbd>, or right-click an empty time and choose **Create event**.
2. Type a **Title**, set **Starts** and **Ends**, and pick the **Calendar** it goes on.
3. Choose **Create event**.

You can also type the whole thing in the title, such as "Call Tom 30min tomorrow 3pm". Forge reads the time out of it and shows **Read that as…** with **Use this** or **Keep as typed**. It never fills anything in without asking. This is worked out inside Forge. It is not sent to an AI.

A new event needs a connected calendar that Forge is allowed to add to. If none can take events, Forge says so and points you to **Settings → Calendars**.

## Book a client yourself

When you have agreed a time with someone directly, add it as a booking so they get the same emails as anyone who books online.

1. Right-click a time and choose **Create booking**, or open **New event** and switch to **Booking**.
2. Fill in **Who it's with**, **Their email** and **What you're doing**.
3. Choose **Add booking**.

They get a confirmation email with links to cancel and reschedule. No payment is taken. Tick **Book outside my hours** to place it outside your working hours. A clash with something already in your diary is always refused.

## Move or change an event

Drag an event to move it, or drag its edge to make it longer or shorter. Times snap to 15 minutes.

Dragging a **booking** is a reschedule, so Forge asks before anything changes. Confirm it and your client is emailed the new time. Choose **Keep it where it was** and nothing moves.

Right-click an event, or select it and use the panel, for the rest: **Colour**, **Edit…**, **Reply** (Yes, No, Maybe), **Join meeting**, **Email participants**, **Duplicate**, **Cut**, **Copy**, **Paste event here** and **Remove**.

## What you can and can't change from Forge

- Events you organise on a calendar Forge can write to can be edited, moved and removed.
- A calendar that is view-only where it lives stays view-only in Forge.
- A meeting someone else organises can only be changed by them. On Google and Microsoft calendars you can still reply to it.
- A booking is changed from the booking itself, with **Reschedule** or **Cancel booking**, so the client hears about it.
- Events on Outlook calendars other than your default one can't be changed from Forge yet.

### Repeating events

When you edit or remove a repeating event, Forge asks which ones you mean:

- **This event** changes one occurrence.
- **All events** changes the whole series. Today this works for Google calendars.
- **This and following** is not available yet.

Repeating events on a CalDAV calendar, such as iCloud, can only be changed in that calendar's own app.

## The Calendars list

The sidebar lists every connected account and its calendars. From an entry's menu you can change its **Colour**, **Hide** or **Show** it, **Rename…** it, or **Make primary**. New events you create land on the primary calendar.

Hiding a Google or Microsoft calendar only hides it from view. Its busy times still block bookings. Hiding a CalDAV calendar also takes it out of conflict checks.

## Share times to book

Sometimes you want to offer a few specific times rather than your whole booking page.

1. Press <kbd>S</kbd>, or press <kbd>⌘</kbd><kbd>K</kbd> and choose **Share times to book**.
2. Drag across the times you are free. Each one becomes a **Hold** on your calendar.
3. In the **Share these times** panel, choose **Copy link**, or **Copy as text** to paste the times into a message.
4. Press <kbd>Esc</kbd> when you have finished choosing.

Whoever opens the link picks one of your times and confirms with their name and email. That becomes a booking. Holds stay on your calendar, and block those times on your booking page, until someone books or you choose **Stop sharing**, which switches the link off and removes its holds.

You need a booking link set in **Settings → Profile** before you can share times.

## A second timezone

Pin a second timezone beside the hour labels with the timezone control at the top of the time column. Search for a city or a zone. It is hidden on a phone.

## Needs action

The **Needs action** button at the bottom of the calendar counts what is waiting on you, most costly first. Press <kbd>I</kbd> to open it. It gathers:

- overdue invoices
- refunds to decide
- unsigned agreements
- proposals with no reply
- leads going quiet
- unsent drafts

You can snooze an item for a day, three days or a week, or mark it done. **Settings → Needs action** sets what counts and after how many days.

## Keyboard

Every shortcut is listed in [Keyboard shortcuts](https://docs.forge.page/keyboard-shortcuts), and in Forge itself: press <kbd>?</kbd>.
