# Availability

> Set the hours you can be booked, add schedules for different kinds of work, and block out dates.

**Availability** is where you say when you can be booked. Bookers only ever see times inside these hours, and only when your calendar is free.

## Set your weekly hours

1. Open **Availability**.
2. Switch on the days you work. A new account starts with Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
3. Set the start and end for each day. Times move in 15-minute steps.
4. Choose **Add a time block** for a day with a gap, such as a morning and an afternoon.
5. Save.

To copy one day's hours to the rest of your working week, use the copy control beside that day.

### Timezone

Working hours are set in the **Timezone** shown at the top. Clients see times in their own.

## Preferred, Available and Reserved

Each time block has one of three kinds:

- **Preferred** times are shown first on your booking page, under **Preferred times**. Use it for the hours you would most like filled.
- **Available** times are offered as normal.
- **Reserved** hours stay hidden. Nobody can book them. Use it to protect focus time inside your working day.

## Date overrides

When your hours differ on particular dates, such as a holiday or a one-off late evening, add an override.

1. Under **Date overrides**, choose **Add an override**.
2. Pick the date.
3. Set different hours, or tick **Unavailable all day**.

There is one override per date. Forge does not block public holidays for you, so add any you take as overrides.

## Schedules

A schedule is a named set of hours. Most people need one. Add another when different work follows different hours, such as calls on weekday mornings and shoots at weekends.

- **New schedule** creates one. Give it a name, such as "Weekday mornings".
- **Switch schedule** moves between them. The schedule's name can be edited at the top of the editor.
- **Make default** sets the one that event types use unless you say otherwise. A schedule with no hours can't be the default.
- **Delete** removes one. Event types using it fall back to your default schedule. You always keep at least one.

To use a schedule, open an event type and pick it under **Availability → Schedule**.

## How Forge works out the times to offer

A time is offered when all of these are true:

1. It is inside the working hours of the event type's schedule, and not **Reserved**.
2. There is no date override blocking that day.
3. Nothing on your connected calendars clashes with it. Your own Forge events and any times you are holding for someone count too.
4. The event type's buffers still fit around it.
5. It is further away than the event type's minimum notice, and nearer than its maximum advance.
6. The day has not reached the event type's daily cap.

If you save a week with no hours switched on, Forge checks first, because nobody would be able to book you.

## If your booking page shows no times

Work down this list:

- Are any days switched on, with hours that are not all **Reserved**?
- Is the event type **Active**, and is its **Maximum advance** long enough?
- Is a connected calendar showing as needing to be reconnected? After 7 days without a successful sync, Forge offers no times until it can see that calendar again. See [Connecting your calendars](https://docs.forge.page/connected-calendars).
- Is your calendar simply full for the dates you are looking at?
